The Institute of Physics provides financial support to research students to attend international meetings and major national meetings. For more information, and to download an application form, please visit the RSC page on the IOP website. Cases for support that fall within the theme of this group are considered by its committee.
The IOP have also established up a new to support to early career researchers who are group members to attend international meetings and visit international facilities. Applications are considered, for up to £300, view more details on the Early Career Researchers Fund and other support and grants available from IOP. A flier for the new fund is also available to download.
We support also meetings ranging from an afternoon to several days in duration. The character of the meetings varies from those appropriate for first-year postgraduates, to conferences of international standard. The annual UK Semiconductor conference is a large two-day event at which all interests within the group are represented. We are also keen to support meetings held jointly with other groups, when common interest makes this desirable. Such meetings are often concerned with the preparation of complex multilayer semiconductor structures by techniques such as molecular beam epitaxy and metal organic chemical vapour deposition and in the development and application of scientific methods to probe the physics of these structures.
